Mr. J. Ross Peters was announced as the next head of school by the Board of Trustees.

The Board’s vote was unanimous. An email was sent out to the students and their parents over the winter break with details. Mr. Peters will officially be the head of school effective July 2015.

Mr. Peters was one of two finalist candidates produced by the international search conducted by the Search Committee. He visited St. George’s for three days before winter break. During that time, he visited all three campuses and spoke at a middle school chapel.

Currently, he teaches an AP English Literature class at The Westminster Schools in Atlanta, Georgia as well as being the Head of the Upper School there.

In the past, Mr. Peters has been the Upper School Director at Hawken School in Gates Mills, Ohio, the Assistant Head of Academic Affairs, Dean of Faculty, and the Humanities Department Chair at Asheville School in Asheville, North Carolina, as well as an English teacher at Providence Day School in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Mr. Ross lives with his wife Katie and daughter Eleanor, who will be in the sixth grade next year.

Stay tuned to the Gryphon Gazette for more information on Mr. Peters.
