These are some commonly made resolutions. Resolution topics can greatly vary and can range anywhere from showering once a week to being the most well-known supermodel.

Ah, the New Year. Just about every person you know has a New Year’s resolution of some sort, but how often do you hear about someone sticking to this new lifestyle? Never, that’s right. This, unfortunately, gives a negative outlook for your resolution plans. Regardless of how simple and “easy” your resolution may seem (make new friends, eat healthier food), it almost always feels impossible to accomplish your goals. Use these tips to complete your tasks all the way through.

  1. Limit Yourself. I know it’s the New Year, and you are feeling ambitious, but trying to juggle 42 resolutions is not going to work. Keep your list down to around three or five so you can stay motivated all year.
  2. Make a list. Actually write down your resolutions. Be sure to look at this or even write them down regularly. This is a great reminder and motivator, so do it as much as possible.
  3. Remind yourself. It is easy to forget that you are trying to do something productive all the time. To fix this, put a reminder on your phone and/or computer in order to remind yourself to like eat a nutritious snack or go workout.
  4. Get on a schedule. Going off of reminders and those going off at certain times, if you can get your New Year’s Resolution on a schedule, you will be able to get in a rhythm. Eventually, you will be able to remember and not even need to be reminded.
  5. Find a team. Odds are that you are not the only one with a certain resolution. Ask around to find someone with similar targets and get through this new year together.
  6. Do not give up. There might be times when you do the opposite of your resolution. You will probably think, “Oh, well looks like I failed and can’t stick with it.” False. Life is about stumbling and falling. If you gave up the first time you tried to walk, you would still be slinking around on the floor right now. Even though you might take a day off the gym, do not give up on what you set out to do. In order to have success, there must be failure. Dust yourself off and keep going because you can do it!
