The upper school spring play, “The Curious Savage,” premieres tonight at the Germantown campus chapel. “The Curious Savage” is a comedic play written by John Patrick that was first produced in New York.

“‘The Curious Savage’ has been a quick and wild ride, but I’m so glad to have spent it with my best friends in the world,” freshman Emma Pounders, who plays Fairy Mae, said. “This pool of actors is special in the sense of not only talent, but the incredible friendship and love between each and every one of us.”

To promote the play, a photo booth manned by multiple cast members was set up in the dining hall yesterday during upper school lunch periods. If students took a selfie with one of the cast members and posted it to social media using the hashtag “#SGCuriousSavage,” they received a jeans pass.

“I think this show in particular has such an incredible balance of actors,” junior Ellie Babb, who plays Mrs. Paddy, said. “We’ve got some legendary seniors heading out who I’m so thankful I got to act with one final time.”

The play stars seniors Allie Buckmaster, Owen Miller, Matthew Turner, Murry Goldberg, Preston Vihlen and Nathan Weinreich, juniors Ellie Babb and Sutton Hewitt, sophomores Audrey Pisahl and Annie Vento and freshman Emma Pounders.

“I have enjoyed being with this group of cast members,” senior Owen Miller, who plays Samuel in the play, said. “I couldn’t ask for a better cast for my final play here at St. George’s.”

The play is showing tonight at 7:30pm, Friday, May 1, at 7:30pm, and Saturday, May 2, at 3:00pm at St. George’s Germantown campus chapel. Students and parents get in free if they bring a canned good.
