The St. George’s middle and upper school students gathered at the Germantown Campus Chapel for the annual Christmas concert on Monday, Dec. 5.

The hour-long concert featured performances by the Middle School Mixed Choir and Middle School Jazz Band, which were followed by performances by the Upper School Choir, Upper School Jazz Band and the Modern Music Ensemble.

The Middle School Jazz Band performed renditions of songs including “Death by Glamour” and “Charlie Brown Christmas” while the Middle School Mixed Choir sang “There’s a New Kid in Town” and “Deck the Rooftop.”

Eighth grader Katy Cotton was excited about how the concert went overall.

“My favorite thing about the concert was reflecting on all of the hard work the school has put into their arts program this year and how far we’ve come,” Cotten said.

The Upper School Choir followed the middle school performers by singing songs such as “Serenity,” “Sonnymoon For Two” and “Glow” while the Upper School Jazz Band performed songs including “Greensleeves” and “Helplessly Hoping.”

The Modern Music Ensemble performed the songs “Take Me to the Alley, ” “Carol of the Bells” and “Away in a Manger.”

Junior Ben Sawyers, a member of both the Modern Music Assemble and Upper School Choir, was also happy with the outcome of the concert.

I think everyone did amazingly, and I think it really reflected the talents that St. George’s music program has,” Sawyers said. “Everybody put a lot of effort into making this concert great, and I think that could be seen in how well it all went.”
