Sophomore Kaitlyn Bowman studies for her exams. With the new schedule this year, students have had to adjust to a different exam week schedule.

With exams nearly over, students at St. George’s have felt the pressure throughout the week.

With the change from trimesters to semesters, the exams covered more material.

Sophomore Jensen Lewis did not have a preference for trimesters over semesters or vice-versa.

“Both have pros and cons. With semesters, there is more information to recall, and with trimesters you have to stress out 3 times a year,” Lewis said. I can’t really say that I prefer one over the other.”

Rachel Umansky dealt with stress through mental motivation.

“I do my work gradually and try to remember that it will all be ok in the end,” Umansky said.

Like Umansky, Lewis believed she should prepare for exams over time and take breaks when needed.

“When I feel I am at a good stopping point in my studying, I stop and play a game or watch some youtube for a couple of minutes to take my mind off of it,” Lewis said.

Sophomore NaCaria Guy prepared for exams by making Quizlets.

“Making Quizlets is good for me,” Guy said. “’I’m writing things over, so it helps me learn it again.”

Sophomore Katie Mullenix also believed making Quizlets was the best way to study.

“Quizlet or flashcards [were the best] because writing and rewriting is useful to memorize info,” Mullenix said.

Leading up to and during exam week, students at St. George’s utilized different study techniques and coping methods in order to make exam week easier to handle.
