Modern Musical Ensemble is a class new to St. George’s this year. They played in chapel on Nov. 17, displaying their talent and modernizing chapel during worship songs.

On Nov. 17, the members of the Modern Music Ensemble performed “Under the Bridge,” “Sanctuary” and “Lord I Lift Your Name On High” during Upper School Chapel. This class is new to St. George’s this year and was created by the new Artist-in-Residence, Mr. Jay Link.

This class welcomes students who are interested in playing and listening to modern music with others, which was shown through their rendition of “Under the Bridge” by the Red Hot Chili Peppers during chapel.

A member of the Modern Music Ensemble and senior Hunter Bishop said, “My favorite part of the class is that we get to play guitar at school.”

The modernization of the chapel was praised by many students, not only because they found it entertaining, but also because the talent of these students was recognized in a public setting.

“As Prefect of the Arts, I’m so happy to see the Modern Music Ensemble getting the recognition they deserve,” said senior Julia Spinolo.
