Shatter Me, Unravel Me, Ignite Me, Read Me!

It is really hard to make this book not sound exactly like the Hunger Games, X-Men, or Divergent; however, the Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi is so much more than all of these stories.
This series is set in a dystopian world, known as the Reestablishment, and follows the life and experiences of Juliette, the shy and timid 17-year-old, who is first found living in an insane asylum. She was placed there three years prior after murdering a small, young boy.
The story continues to follow Juliette’s life after being visited by a young, handsome soldier working for the Reestablishment. This soldier, Adam, is stationed in the asylum to study Juliette and understand her. The Reestablishment wants to use Juliette as a lethal weapon and sends Adam in to study her.
The government becomes increasingly curious with Juliette because she is different from every other person her age. She radiates power and energy, and she has a secret. Her touch is lethal to everyone who comes into contact with her, rendering her extremely dangerous to everyone, except Adam.
The novel follows Juliette’s journey of dealing with her curse, or gift, of power and strength, and how the presence of Adam and the Reestablishment affect her life and journey discovering her real purpose, and whether or not she is inherently good or evil.

Shatter Me, Destroy Me, Unravel Me, Fracture Me, and Ignite Me are all of the books included in the Shatter Me series. Each of these novels and novellas are written beautifully and flow together seamlessly. These books are definitely a must read for those who enjoy the exciting and the unexpected. This series is one of the best that I have read in a long time, and I would recommend them to any, and all, readers.
