Ms. Lathum joins a collection of St. George’s alumni who have become staff: Director of Advancement Kyle Slatery ‘98, Assistant Varsity Girls and Boys Soccer Coach Nick Whicker ‘06, Sports Information Director and Head Varsity Boys Lacrosse Coach John Carter Hawkins ‘17 and Advancement Associate and Varsity Football Offensive Line Coach Stuart Young ‘21.
She also has family ties to the job. Her mother, Mrs. Sharon Lathum, who currently works as the Executive Assistant to the Head of School and the Board of Trustees, formerly worked as the receptionist as well.
“I trained under Sharon Lathum and now I [have trained] Sharon Lathum’s daughter, Morgan…it’s just come full circle,” Mrs. Taylor said.
Teachers are excited to see Ms. Lathum back on campus, although in a new role, as she knows the school well and connects with everyone.
“It’s wonderful to see her kind smile, her warmth,” Mrs. Rubin said, “I’m super happy she’s here.”
Now seeing the school from the faculty side, Ms. Lathum has enjoyed the opportunity to learn what goes on behind the scenes at St. George’s. While the transition was stressful at first, after spending two months as the receptionist, Ms. Lathum is settling back into the community.
“Getting used to everything. It’s a lot,” Ms. Lathum said, “but it’s been fun. I’ve been getting the hang of it…I’m really enjoying getting to know everybody and getting back into this culture.”
