Breaking down the conspiracy of Student Government
On March 7, 2018, the St. George’s Student Government sent out a cryptic email featuring only an attached photo of “The Last Supper,” painted by the great Leonardo DaVinci.
“Look forward to it,” senior and student class president Bennett Matson said. “It’s going to bring the school together in a way never done before, and everyone’s going to enjoy it.”
The subject line of the email featured the date 3/29/18, which is Maundy Thursday. According to Christian Theology, Maundy Thursday is the day on which Jesus celebrated “The Last Supper,” and established the tradition of Communion. Jay Horner, a senior, is convinced it will relate to that day.
“There’s definitely a connection there, as the dates line up,” Horner said, “but that doesn’t explain what it all means.” The reasons for releasing this picture on this day are unknown and are currently being kept under wraps by members of the Student Government.
This email is especially weird because the main role of the Student Government is to plan dances. Despite this, senior and Student Government member Emily Grace Rogers says it has nothing to do with a dance. This email has raised a question among everyone at the school to what this event might be, and why it is so secretive. Why is it a mystery and what might this event be? Emily Grace refused to allude any further details about the event.
“It’ll be a great bonding experience,” Rodgers said. “Get ready.”
Another idea is the possibility of a school feast. As this is the day Jesus had his Last Supper, a school wide feast would be something that would bring the school together in a way never before seen at St. George’s. Horner believes there may be some truth to this thought.
“It is possible that they could be planning to have some surprise meal on the date in the email, but who knows,” Horner said.
However, despite his ideas about the event, Horner continues to echo the voice of the school in his very straightforward remarks about the email.
“I’m very confused by this email,” Horner said, “but I want to find out why the student government sent it.”
What is this event? The hype generated by its conspiracy is something unheard of at St. George’s, and the hope of something incredible is on the mind of everyone who read it. What could it mean, and when will we know more?
