Q&A with Upper School English Teacher Ms. Marilee Mallott
Question: How long have you been a teacher?
Answer: This is “my 15th year teaching.”
Q: Where did you previously teach before coming here?
A: “I taught at a private school in California and last year at Houston High School.”
Q: Is St. George’s environment different from your past schools?
A: “Yes and no. [It] still [has] the same philosophy: the idea of prioritizing the relationship between students and faculty.”
Q: Does the atmosphere or environment affect your teaching style?
A: “Yes. The smaller the class, the more writing we can do, and that makes a huge difference for students with improving their skills and more student involvement.”
Q: Overall, how has your St. George’s experiment been so far?
A: “It’s been great. People, students and faculty are super friendly. It has taken some adjusting to get used to the rotating schedule. I’ll get used to it soon.”
Q: What is one thing people don’t know about you that you’d like to share?
A: “I miss Mexican food from California.”
