The senior class poses for a picture in their class shirts. Nearly the entire senior class attended a Grizzlies’ game on Nov. 2.

The senior class gets to have a night just for them every year so they can have fun and connect with their friends before they graduate. This year, the class of 2017 chose to attend a Grizzlies’ game. Nearly every senior showed up at 7 p.m. to watch the St. George’s choir sing “The Star Spangled Banner.” The class sat in section 210 and could be noticed because of their constant cheering and festive “Gr17 and Grind” class t-shirts.

The game  was played at the FedEx Forum on Wednesday, Nov. 2, and the class cheered for their favorite players, including Mike Conley, Tony Allen and Marc Gasol. Allen even waved to senior Alex Middleton since Middleton sported one of his T-shirts.

“It was exciting,” Middleton said. “We were close to some really good players like him and Anthony Davis.”

Another memorable moment occurred when the Dance Cam pointed around the arena. Seniors Avery Whitehead, Marshall Shanks and Bayard Anderson worked hard to get on the camera but sadly did not.

“I had a great time,” Anderson said. “I’m bummed I didn’t get on the camera, but it’s all for the love of the game.”

The seniors were enthusiastic and energetic for the whole game, and they dawned huge smiles on their faces.

The smiles started to fade when the game came to the fourth quarter, though. After the scored tied up 75-75 in the fourth quarter, the game intensified, and the whole class cheered as loud as they could when the game went into overtime and the Grizzlies pulled out the win.

“It was, as the cool kids say, lit,” senior Anna Darty said.

As the class of 2017 left the arena, they gathered on the court to take a group picture to remember their night.

With all the cheering and fun the seniors had, the Grizzlies were not the only ones who won that night.
