Citizenship Director finalists come to St. George’s

A finalist candidate for director of the Citizenship Institute meets with Citizenship students during lunch. This candidate is one of the four that will be visiting St. George’s as a part of the ongoing job search.

Four finalists for the position of Citizenship Institute Director, chosen from 15 candidates, were invited to visit the campus for the weeks preceding and following winter break. They are coming from Colorado, New York, South Carolina, and Wisconsin.

After meeting all of the criteria listed on the school website, the candidates were interviewed and then invited to tour the campus for a day and a half.

“We were looking for people who had experiences living and working in other countries or cultures, have a proven record of entrepreneurialism in the creation of new programs or projects, and have a demonstrated, deep moral obligation to working with students to make the world a better place,” said Mr. Will Bladt, Associate Head of School.

The candidate who is offered the position will be taking on the responsibilities formerly held by Mr. Luther Mercer, including the Challenge 20/20 club and the Citizenship and Globalization specialty courses. If they can begin working right away, they will. Otherwise, the new teacher will begin next August.
