  • Mayor Jim Strickland has stated that a date for when the Safer-at-Home order will be lifted or relaxed has not been chosen yet
    • Many doctors continue to predict that Shelby County will hit its peak around late-May, early-June
  • Shelby County is currently the county with the greatest number of confirmed cases in Tennessee
    • When compared to counties in both Mississippi and Arkansas, Shelby County is also the leader in confirmed cases
  • Mayor Lee Harris stated that he will propose a 1.4-billion-dollar budget to help prevent the spread of the Coronavirus as well as help the county’s response to the pandemic
  • The Tennessee Commission of Aging and Disability says they are working to provide aid for older community members, many of whom are being faced with financial troubles, low food supplies, as well as social isolation
    • There has been a cluster of confirmed Coronavirus cases in assisted care homes
