If you are ever in need of history knowledge or a writer who is up to the challenge of whatever comes his way, then you’re looking for social media editor Mason Merkle. He’s a journalist, an avid reader, a swimmer and is ready for his senior year ahead. As Mason enters year two with The Lodge, he’s most excited to broaden his talents into learning more about the photography and design aspects of journalism. Community is the aspect of St. George’s that Mason finds the most important and he finds community through his deep involvement with the swim team, as well as clubs like Model UN and Youth In Government. When asked about his favorite place he’s visited in the world, it was an easy answer: Rome. As a part of a trip with the St. George’s choir this past summer, Mason got to see first-hand what it’s like to walk through streets with such a long history. Mason’s passion for reading and writing have been a part of his life for a long time, and that helped him in finding his place as a writer with The Lodge.
