Experiential learning expands with new half-day progam
On the Wednesday before fall break, a new half-day schedule was implemented in which students attended two exploratory classes of their choice.
A week earlier, students chose their top five classes from a survey listing 42 offerings, ranging from bass fishing to teaching. The administrators then worked to try to put every student in classes that were in their top five.
The day consisted of two sessions of classes. Some classes, like the art studio class, opted for a “double session,” meaning that students would attend one class the entire day.
Regardless, most students greeted this new change with enthusiasm.
Sophomore Britney Pepper liked being able to relax at school.
“I loved how laid-back [the day] was,” said Pepper.
Sophomore Megan Lenoir also thought that this new change was good for the student body.
“I had a great experience that makes me want to come to school on half days!” said Lenoir.
