The book drive is accepting books that are appropriate for all ages. Last year, the drive received over 4000 books.

The start of the SGIS Annual Book Drive kicked off yesterday and will continue to run until Friday. The book drive was established last year and accumulated over 4,000 books that benefitted a school, known as Veritas, where alumna Adeline Brown is a member of the faculty.

This year’s proceeds will be going towards filling the Binghampton Free Library Book Program and Freedom Preparatory Academy. As of now, around 600 books have been collected.

“They deserve just as much of a chance to succeed in life as we do, and they can’t do that if they don’t have the necessary resources,” said Anna Besh, a sophomore who is coordinating the book drive.

All three campuses are able to participate in the book drive and a prize is available to the grade that supplies the most books.

If you want to contribute to the donations, you can find boxes on the stage in the lunchroom or the junior and senior lounges, where you can place them in your grade’s allotted container.
