Artists in Mr. Danny Broadway, Upper and Middle School Artist in Residence teacher, Visual Arts class are currently working on portraits. Senior Paiden Reed, whose painting is pictured, says that Mr. Broadway lets the artists chose their own vision of how they want to draw or paint their portraits. “Mr. Broadway lets us experience everything,” Reed said. “He didn’t have a certain media he wanted us to use. We could kind of just come up with our own way.” She was originally going to make a semi-realistic portrait of her classmate Senior Tyler Beasley, but she decided she would try something new and Mr. Broadway encouraged it. “I started researching different ways,” Reed said, “and I saw this artist who had done a lot of abstract paintings with a painting knife, and I got the idea to try it.”
